It was founded in April 2023 and is led by Emma McDermott, ATT, who has been a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians since 2020, previously worked at Deloitte, and is published in Tax Adviser magazine.

Working with GTC
What makes you different from a normal accountant?
Focus. A good local accountant handles company accounts, payroll, VAT and personal tax for people who live where they work. We do none of that. We do UK tax for people whose lives cross borders, which means residence, treaties, split years and the reliefs that go with them — every day, for every client.
Do you only work with people outside the UK?
Not quite. We work with people leaving the UK, people arriving in it, and people moving between countries. What our clients have in common is a cross-border position, not a particular address.
How do fixed fees work?
We look at your situation, tell you what the work involves and quote a fixed fee before anything starts. If the scope genuinely changes we agree a new figure with you first. You will never receive an invoice you were not expecting.
How do I actually work with you day to day?
Through the portal. You upload documents, we ask questions, you approve drafts and sign electronically.
Are you qualified?
Yes. Emma McDermott, our founder, has been a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) since 2020. Global Tax Consulting is registered with HMRC as a tax agent and is supervised by the ATT for anti-money laundering purposes.
